LAB TECH
Job summary: Test the packaging line samples using simple chemical tests and physical tests and calculations required to obtain test results. Records results of testing completed and determine whether results are within specification limits. Contacts appropriate personnel if product is out of grade and rejects out of grade products.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to follow and give verbal and written instructions.
- Not allergic to dust or chemicals.
- Chemistry or lab background and/or experience are preferred.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Occasionally required to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to keep accurate and legible records.
- Must be able to communicate in fluent English.
- Ability to accurately use weights and measures.
- Must be available for rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
- Lab technicians must demonstrate good attendance and
be able to work independently with little or no supervision after training.
- The lab tech is responsible or the segregation non-conforming and conforming product.
- Chemical and physical testing of product at specified intervals and record of these results on the corresponding lab sheets.
- Magnet testing shall be completed 4 times per 8 hour shift from each manufacturing line. ____________
- Metal detection calibration twice per 8 hour test on each manufacturing line.
- Micro samples must be taken twice per 8 hour shift from each manufacturing line. ____________
- Balance calibration every time the scale is moved or at a minimum of once per week.
- Other duties as asigned
Lab technicians are required to undergo a 120-hour(minimum) training program with a trained lab technician specified by the QA supervisor or manager. The lab tech must demonstrate tests of their competency in performing testing procedures and other skills. Lab technicians are only
qualified to perform those testing procedures in which they have been formally trained. The QA supervisor or manager are required to verify the competency of the lab technician on a schedule.
